Edward William Lane's Arabic-English Lexicon - a digital version

The software has finally been released - please go here

I'm working on a standalone desktop version of the Lexicon based on the XML sources built by the Perseus Digital Library at Tufts University.

You will be able to browse the lexicon, follow cross-references by clicking on the link, search the contents for an Arabic root or head word or do a full text search for both English and Arabic words. To help, It comes with a virtual Arabic keyboard.

Other features include the ability to add bookmarks, attach notes to entries, copy entries and paste them into you own documents.

You can choose your preferred Arabic font, set your own keyboard shortcuts and alter many more configuration settings.

Here's a screenshot to give you an idea. (Click on it for a bigger picture.):

There are test versions available for OSX and Windows. If you would like to run the software and let me know of any problems, then drop me an email at the address below.
